In the first half of October, just a few days after the CMDBuild DAY 2016, we will release the version 2.4.2 of CMDBuild.

The main new features will be the following:

  • performances’ improvements in different parts of the code (client side, server side and database side);
  • improvements in the user interface related to the advancing of parallel processes;
  • CMDBuild webservices extensions in order to work on relation attributes and on geographical attributes;
  • new features in the Relation Graph: it is possible now to use filters to view and select the nodes of interest and to print the graph;
  • Greek language localization;
  • bug fixing.

CMDBuild on field: Italian Republic Senate

This time we don’t present a new case history, but we are proud to present an important contribution that the IT Service of the Senate of the Italian Republic wished to provide to the CMDBuild Community.

It is a booklet in PDF format, that is already published on the CMDBuild site and that will be presented during the CMDBuild DAY, that describes approach and methodology adopted in the Senate for the design and implementation of an ICT SKMS system (Service Knowledge Management System) based on CMDBuild.

The aim of this document is to provide practical information that might be useful to other organizations that want to take the same path (the author calls it a "journey"), or more generally to those interested in the theme of ITIL.

The document describes the approach suggested by ITIL, the organization of the project at the Senate, the design and implementation of the CMDB, the analysis methodologies of the IT processes, the activated controls (KPI) and the integration with external applications. Then, the final chapters present the adopted criteria (style rules, etc.), the quality audit (testing methods), the methods of interfacing with the provider Tecnoteca and a collection of templates used for the documentation of the different phases of activities.

The booklet contents are obviously "CMDBuild oriented", being CMDBuild the specific platform adopted by the Senate, with its peculiarities and its mechanisms that "translate" the conceptual guidance provided by ITIL into a software application.

We thank the author, Vincenzo Curci, for collecting and sharing with everyone the best practices that let him manage successfully  the project for the introduction of ITIL in the Senate, using CMDBuild as the support tool.

CMDBuild READY2USE  1.1 is coming out

box READY2USE

During the second half of October we’ll release the version 1.1 of CMDBuild READY2USE, the preconfigured version for the IT asset and services management.

CMDBuild READY2USE 1.1 will be based on CMDBuild 2.4.2 and will include the following main upgrades:

  • extension of the data model with some new entities ("Customer", "Customer Staff", "Group Companies", "Technological infrastructures", etc.);
  • possibility of access to the Service Desk also by external clients;
  • ability to configure dynamic work orders (form fields and automated tasks can be configured directly in the CMDB in custom mode) for the resolution of standard "Request" and standard "Change";
  • possibility to start "Incidents" by external events (automatic alarms, calls forwarded from the telephone exchange, etc.);
  • new reports and dashboards for the complete control of "Incidents" and "Requests" SLA;
  • print feature of barcodes and QR-codes;
  • automatic and periodic reports with the list of expiring guarantees;
  • bug fixing.

CMDBuild READY2USE is having a great success, demonstrated by both over fifteen new clients this year that have been assisted by Tecnoteca in their implementation, and by the choice of many CMDBuild customers to migrate their instance to the READY2USE version.

openMANT 1.1  is coming out

box.png

Next month is going to be a very intense period for the CMDBuild project.

We spoke already about the CMDBuild DAY 2016, the release of CMDBuild 2.4.2 and the release of CMDBuild READY2USE 1.1.

In the second half of next month, we’ll also release the new version of openMAINT (1.1), the preconfigured solution for the Property&Facility Management.

openMAINT 1.1 will be based on CMDBuild 2.4.2 and will feature the following updates:

  • self-service portal for interaction with the Technical Office by non-technical personnel (e.g. fault report, consultation of the solution process, etc.);
  • improvements in the management of maintenance failure;
  • extended refactoring of scheduled maintenance on a time basis, with the introduction of new criteria for calculating;
  • new implementation of scheduled maintenance with criteria based on "threshold" (relative to the actual use of the object / plant);
  • printing labels with barcodes and QR-Code;
  • bug fixing.

Also with openMAINT we are developing new projects, which we’ll examine in depth in future newsletters.
