CMDBuild 3.4.1 released

CMDBuild Newsletter nr. 93

We have released CMDBuild 3.4.1 version today.

It was basically born as a “minor version”, to stabilize the previous 3.4 release, given the many and important innovations introduced with the 3.4 version. Over time, it has also collected numerous new features, which we anticipated in previous newsletters and that we summarize here below.

Main Data Management Module:

  • search filters: possibility to define more complex advanced filters on the data cards by specifying criteria in “or” and/or “and”;
  • data grids: ability to view the attributes to be included in the grid ordered by position in the card or alphabetically, automatic distinct for filters on columns on lookup values;
  • views from joins: improvements in the choice and management of attributes in the configuration phase, possibility of viewing the source data cards in the consultation phase;
  • contextual menu: also enabled on the rows of the card grids and workflow instances;
  • relationships: multiple relationships allowed on the same domain between the same pairs of cards with different attributes of the relationship;
  • relations graph: display of attributes on relations, display of relations on different domains between the same pairs of classes;
  • attached document attributes: foreign key type added;
  • email: viewing unread emails and notification of receipt, checking the size of attachments, chronological view, templates filtered on classes;
  • schedule: possibility of multiple notifications both as email and in-app, navigation to the source card.

Administration Module:

  • ability to disable sorting on some attributes (for performance reasons);
  • reordering of lookup lists;
  • differentiation between read/write permissions on data card TABs;
  • email and in-app notification template localization;
  • new interface for defining the temporal criteria for scheduling tasks;
  • definition of retain criteria in the application logs.

Mobile APP:

  • enabling search of cards and modification of attributes through RFID tags;
  • login via RFID card.

Other news:

  • extension of the service bus with support for hierarchical domains (relations on the same class);
  • authentication of access to mail services: implementation of Modern Authentication by Microsoft and OAuth2 by Google;
  • update of PostGIS to version 3;
  • high reliability cluster: configuration improvements and optimizations.

The new roadmap of the CMDBuild Project is in preparation

CMDBuild Newsletter nr. 93

Once the release activities of CMDBuild 3.4.1 have been completed, we will proceed as usual with the update of the project roadmap.

From now on we can anticipate that we will start working on a new minor 3.4.2 version, in which we will include new features in our Wishlist, some identified by our technicians and others received as suggestions from the users of the platform.

The development of the new version will occupy us the next winter months and the release will be available by the middle of next year.

The integration activities of the “off-line” working mode in the CMDBuild Mobile APP and the refactoring of the CMDBuild GUI Framework, on which the Self-Service Portal of CMDBuild READY2USE and openMAINT applications are based, remain in the project roadmap, but have not yet been planned.

Concerning next activities, we remind you that at about end of October / beginning of November the new versions CMDBuild READY2USE 2.3 (here the list of news) and openMAINT 2.3 (here the list of news) will be released.

Microsoft Modern Authentication and Google OAuth2 for sending emails

From October 2022 both Google and Microsoft will improve the security of user access via e-mail, especially when users share their account data with third-party applications.

This will protect users from “phishing” and “app impersonation” attacks.

Both providers will use the OAuth2 standard.

Therefore the “username plus password” authentication standard used until now to authenticate users will soon be discontinued by both providers, starting with:

The new CMDBuild 3.4.1 version supports the new authentication standard for accessing the email server through which you send and receive emails from the application.

Since the release times were not sufficient to update all customers who need it by the beginning of October, we have also released a patch applicable to the previous versions CMDBuild 3.3.3 and CMDBuild 3.4 for those customers who subscribed to the Subscription Support Service.

CMDBuild DAY 2022

CMDBuild DAY 2022 logoThe organization of CMDBuild DAY 2022 continues, the biennial appointment with users of CMDBuild and with all the people interested in the project.

The date of the event has been set for next November 30th.

The day's program already promises to be of great interest due to the number and importance of the case histories that we will be able to offer you, for which we thank in advance the institutions and companies that have given us their availability.

We invite all users of CMDBuild or openMAINT to contact to us to propose a speech, with a brief description of the institution / company, the reasons for choosing CMDBuild, the functionalities implemented, the critical issues encountered, the benefits obtained, the expected developments.

Here you can find the programs of the previous editions 2010/2012/2014/2016/2018/2020 and the videos of all the case histories.
